How much does education improve intelligence?
Intelligence test scores and educational duration are positively
correlated. This correlation could be interpreted in two ways: Students
with greater propensity for intelligence go on to complete more
education, or a longer education increases intelligence. We
meta-analyzed three categories of quasi experimental studies of
educational effects on intelligence: those estimating
education-intelligence associations after controlling for earlier
intelligence, those using compulsory schooling policy changes as
instrumental variables, and those using regression-discontinuity designs
on school-entry age cutoffs. Across 142 effect sizes from 42 data sets
involving over 600,000 participants, we found consistent evidence for
beneficial effects of education on cognitive abilities of approximately 1
to 5 IQ points for an additional year of education. Moderator analyses
indicated that the effects persisted across the life span and were
present on all broad categories of cognitive ability studied. Education
appears to be the most consistent, robust, and durable method yet to be
identified for raising intelligence.

What about Zoom?

A meeting is a Zoom event where one person hosts and all other participants have equal footing. The host can share hosting responsibilities with other participants. Any participant can share their screen. Meetings can have up to 100 participants. A webinar is a more controlled environment. I think that this program is very useful especially in hard cases for example we had used it because we have a vacation and we can't attend physically at the university, it's very helpful we met all our friends and sharing ideas in addition the instructor will explain an important things that we should use in our project. Furthermore, it has a high quality of clearness in contrast to other programs like skype, viber... It was a nice experience that's will help us in the future if we have an online meeting in a certain place and can't attend.
About Google slides
After using google slides for making a research with my friends I noticed that it's a helpful tools that can be used remotely and allow us to design presentations and save them on google account, with google slides we can do the following : -Create and edit our presentations. -Import power point desktop application files (ppt, pptx) and convert them to google slides. -Share our presentation with friends. Save presentations on computer with different extensions. - Adding image & videos to the presentations. -Embed our presentations on a website. Although all the benefits of google slides there are some disadvantages for example while doing a research there's not a regulation of times or slides, everyone do what he wanted at any time because of this it's important to have a leader who organize this work. Also some students don't like to work with friends who don't know that's cause problems many time.Wednesday, January 8, 2020
Teaching Digital Citizenship to Kids with Learning and Attention Issues.
It's hard to overemphasize the importance of teaching our students how to use technology appropriately and responsibly. And what's just as important is making sure we're helping all our students build these essential digital citizenship skills. The students in our classrooms are unique, each with their own individual learning needs.
I would start by considering common characteristics of kids with learning and attention issues, and think about which of these characteristics could present challenges when teaching digital citizenship. You can, of course, anticipate that students with reading issues will have difficulty with the reading.
But the biggest challenge may be cognitive flexibility. Cognitive flexibility involves both flexible thinking and task switching. These skills let students think about problems in multiple ways — and abandon old approaches to try something new.
How could issues with cognitive flexibility create challenges for students as you work on digital citizenship? Taking the perspectives of others and recognizing multiple possibilities for other people's motivations might be tough. So will recognizing causes and effects and predicting a range of possible consequences. Kids may struggle to shift behavior according to different social norms, especially when things cross from the digital world to "real life."
When students face those challenges — all at the breakneck speed of a digital environment — they might feel confused, overwhelmed, or even unsafe. The good news is that students' cognitive flexibility can improve and you can help.
Start by anticipating these difficulties and planning for them. Then you can address a student’s challenge before it becomes a big issue during the lesson. When teaching, be direct about important concepts. Allow time in your
plans to pause frequently and check for understanding. Ask students to rephrase key ideas to you or to a peer. Be sure to plan for multiple opportunities for students to practice each skill.
Ask questions that allow for multiple possible responses. Say something like "Who can suggest one possibility?" instead of "Who knows the answer?" Before you ask questions, let the class or group know that no one should raise a hand right away. Give students some time to think about a response. Then ask for hands to be raised.

Improving Educational System in Lebanon
The quality of Lebanon’s public school system suffered with the outbreak of the civil war in 1975 and the system continues to face significant challenges. Approximately two-thirds of Lebanese children now attend costly private schools, and public schools have become the last resort for families without means. The quality of private education is higher than public education, resulting in increased gaps between more economically advantaged youth and their poorer peers who cannot afford quality private education. Lebanese public schools suffer from a severe shortage of qualified English and French speakers who can teach math and science in these languages. In addition, a large number of public schools have infrastructure problems, such as broken windows and leaking roofs.
Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE) and American Educational Institutions work to improve the quality of basic and higher education in Lebanon. The aim of our elementary education programs is to enhance student achievement by improving educational environments with repairs and equipment; increasing learning opportunities through teacher training and extra-curricular activities; and increasing stakeholder engagement in public schools. In higher education, USAID helps to prepare talented, low-income public school students from across Lebanon for careers in high-demand fields and to make contributions as leaders in their community, region and the world.
Our impacts in this sector include:
Rehabilitating the Lebanese public school system by upgrading buildings, providing resources, promoting community engagement in schools and training teachers.
Providing merit-based scholarships to public high school graduates from across Lebanon who need financial assistance.
